Third person plural, present tense verbs generally end in -ano or -ono. For example parlano, they speak and vendono, they sell.
Regular verbs fall into four main categories that follow different patterns of endings. There is one category for verbs ending in -are, one for verbs ending in -ere and two for verbs ending in -ire. The endings you’ve learnt so far are shown in the following table.

In Italian there are three equivalent ways of asking the question What?. In the exercises you saw the expression Che cosa? (literally What thing?). But you can also say just Che? or just Cosa?. So the three sentences Che cosa vuoi?, Che vuoi? and Cosa vuoi? all mean What do you want?. In order to avoid ambiguity in the exercises we will always translate What? as Che cosa? if possible.
